Recently, Anthony Hamilton sat down with NPR for his Noteworthy mini-documentary. During that time, he took us on a tour of his hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina, taking in the sights while giving us insight into the man behind music. Of course, this trip back home wouldn’t be complete without a few musical detours. Thankfully, we were treated to two very memorable performances as Hamilton and his infamous background singers The Hamiltones took us on a trip down memory lane.

Sitting in the pews of his home church, New Shiloh Baptist, AHam and ‘dem boys delivered an a cappella rendition of the gospel staple “Amazing Grace.” We’re not sure if this soul stirring rendition is what clergyman John Newton had in mind when he wrote the song back in 1779, but it’s definitely what we expect from someone raised in the belly of the black church.

In addition to touching our souls, the group also made time to touch our hearts with an acoustic rendition of "What I’m Feelin'." Against the backdrop of a lone guitar, the haunting doo-wop harmonies of The Hamiltones created a lush melody for Anthony to show off his vocal range.

Anthony Hamilton and The Hamiltones know how to make us laugh, make us cry and make us feel some kind of way. As usual, they delivered a short but sweet slice of heaven every time they opened their mouths to sing. If you haven’t watched Anthony Hamilton and The Hamiltone’s NPR Noteworthy mini-doc, we encourage you to do so not now but right now. And, if you’re feeling the blessings that Anthony and company are bestowing upon our humble ears, you can get serenaded live in person when Hamilton and his crew join Lalah Hathaway and Eric Benét on tour this fall. Judging from this pair of clips, it's a show you won't want to miss.
