Bounce-Worthy artist Gallant’s star has steadily risen since the LA-by-way-of-Maryland-native caught our attention last year. We knew it was only a matter of time before the “Weight In Gold”-singer would become a household name. While he’s not quite up there with Kleenex and Sony yet, the star has achieved some amazing feats in the last year like working with Jhené Aiko, performing on the Tonight Show, getting a song on the Bridget Jones's Baby soundtrack, oh and releasing his debut album, Ology. For his next act, the star took over BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge.

For his first selection, Gallant sang “Bourbon,” a sorrowful tune about a love hangover with clever lyrics and an inspired delivery. Despite some awkward body movements, Gallant pulled through with an amazing and heartwarming performance. However, where Gallant truly shines is on his cover of the Chainsmokers’ hit “Closer.” Over a live version of the original synth heavy production, the emerging star took the pop hit and infused it with undeniable charm and soul. While the song threatened to get away from him, he pulled through in the clutch, as his amazing falsetto took the track to another level. The way he reimagined the song is reminiscent of Maxwell’s cover of “This Woman’s Work."

Of course, we can’t say we’re surprised by Gallant’s performances. He’s created great original songs like “Talking In Your Sleep” and did an acoustic cover of Janet Jackson’s “I Get Lonely” with SG Lewis that left us in our feelings. If you aren’t already a fan of Gallant, we encourage you to press play and get into the smooth, soulful musical stylings of this great talent.
