Michel'le's Story To Be Told In Lifetime's 'Surviving Compton'

Lifetime is making it their duty to tell the stories of musicians past and present, and this time they're giving us a look into the roller coaster career of songstress Michel'le. The former R&B Divas: Los Angeles star announced earlier this year that she would be releasing the biopic Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Michel'le with the network and now we have a trailer. The movie's title pretty much gives it away. The film will give us all the tea from the singer's career and infamous intimate relationships with both Dr. Dre and Suge Knight. Judging from the trailer alone, that tea is not so sweet.

Like most biopics, the beginning of the film is fun and bubbly, showing the members of N.W.A mocking Michel'le's "Minnie Mouse" voice, only to be wowed by her deeper range when she actually sings. The budding star gets signed, falls in love with Dre and then all hell breaks loose as she's swept up in the music business. The movie details her tumultuous relationship with Dr. Dre, even showing an eyebrow raising scene of the rapper choking out Michel'le in the studio. The trailer hints at how she later gets involved with Suge and how she and her baby end up surrounded by drama and violence.

Unlike other Lifetime movies, the cast looks pretty solid and closely resemble the people they depict. The "No More Lies" singer will be played by Rhyon Nicole Brown, Curtis Hamilton plays Dr. Dre, R. Marcos Taylor plays Suge Knight (a role he also played in Straight Outta Compton) and Jamie Kennedy will depict N.W.A's manager Jerry Heller. If you're ready to see Michel'le's truth, grab your popcorn and watch Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Michel'le when it premieres on Saturday, October 15th at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT on Lifetime. Until then, press play on the trailer below and see what the first lady of N.W.A. has in store for you.
