Moses Sumney & Thundercat Take Us To A 'Lonely World'

Moses Sumney has made a name for himself thanks to his other-worldly sound. He continues to captivate with the release of his latest single and video, "Lonely World." In the haunting number, which features Thundercat putting it down on the bass, Sumney softly croons about finding his way. It starts off delicately, with Sumney's vocals intertwining with acoustic guitars before it slowly begins to build, layer-by-layer, before ultimately peaking into a frenzied crescendo. His voice serves as an added instrument to the composition, rising and then retreating with tempo.

The video further encapsulates the trippy and haunting experience. Directed by Sam Cannon, the clip opens with what appears to be five nude figures. As the camera gradually zooms in, we realize that it is, in fact, only one person just multiplied. Curled on his side, he appears vulnerable, yet strong as he moves around in water. It is a gorgeous accompaniment to the song, which serves as the first single from Sumney's upcoming EP Lamentations, which is due out this Friday, September 30th. Sumney is currently opening up for James Blake's North American Tour.
