The last time we heard from singer/songwriter, Emeli Sandé, she was suffering from a bad case of heartache on “Hurt,” the first single to her sophomore album. However, on her second single, “Garden,” featuring Áine Zion and Jay Electronica, the Scottish beauty’s heart seems to have gotten over that particular case of love sickness and is celebrating the freedom that love brings.

Emeli’s particular “Garden” is a place where she and her lover can find peace and enjoy passion. “Garden” uses a sparse, boom-bap sound bed with kick drums, snares and finger snaps, along with some atmospheric symphonic elements. Áine Zion opens and closes the song with some poetic words of wisdom, while Emeli and Jay run point on the track. Instead of using her notable vocals, the “Heaven”-singer employs a laid-back, spoken word approach to the lyrics. Jay Electronica follows suit with a similar cadence. However, his message about love’s ups and downs speaks volumes despite his decidedly monotone delivery.

“Garden” is another solid track from Emeli’s upcoming sophomore album, Long Live The Angels, due November 11th. Her first album in four years, the singer says that this project is “very honest” and will let people know exactly who she is.
