Solange Inspires Syllabus Empowering Women Of Color

Solange's A Seat at the Table definitely further solidified her "woke" cred, but it looks like she's now going for full-on college credit too. The album and its themes of empowerment, especially for women of color, has inspired the singer/songwriter to call on fans to help her create a syllabus based on the album. She's looking for submissions that fall within five themes: Resisting Racism, Understanding Gender and Sexuality, The Role of Relationships, Nurturing Ourselves and "A Seat At The Lunch Table." If you (or someone you know) is a young woman of color aged 16-30, then Solo wants you to help by contributing texts, visual art or music that "speak to our experiences." If that sounds like you, then you can submit at the Seatsyllabus website, where your work will be curated by a group of curators that include respected scholars like Melissa Harris-Perry and Candice Benbow. #WhereMyGirlsAt
