Steve Lacy Is A Fool In Love On 'MORON'

Have you ever felt like a fool for falling in love? Steve Lacy has and continues to show that he's a bit of a hopeless romantic with his new loosie "MORON." Though he is currently touring the world with The Internet, the bass player and budding solo star took some time to release the track, which didn't make the cut for his debut EP Steve Lacy's Demo. Though we can't for the life of us figure out why it was left off the set, we can automatically hear why he and his friends felt that "it's one the world should hear."

Laced with a sick bassline and percussion that chugs along, "MORON" finds young Steve obsessing over a love that he just can't shake. "Caught a feel, I didn't want that," he sings on the chorus. "She's over me, I want her back." Though he has options (three to be exact), the more complicated love affair seems to be the only one that he wants. Underscoring all this inner turmoil is flowery guitar and discordant synth, playing up Steve's conflicting feelings concerning his current emotional state. In a day and age where it's more prized to be hard and emotionally disingenuous, it's kind of refreshing to hear a young man so open about vulnerability (especially since he doesn't hide it behind thinly veiled machismo). Plus, we think it's a situation that almost anyone has found themselves in at one time or another.

But don't just take our word for it. Stream Steve Lacy's "MORON" below and let us know if you can relate to the up-and-comer's romantic dilemma.
