Chris McClenney Keeps It Sexy On His 'Simple' Remix Of Joe Hertz & JONES

Weeks ago, London-based producer Joe Hertz released his new single “Simple” featuring Bounce-Worthy singer/songwriter JONES. Known for his effortless blend of R&B, elements of hip-hop, electronica and house music, Hertz continues to blur boundaries between genres with the new track. Despite the title, the tune combines an alluring and soulful melody with electrifying drum-backed rhythm and is actually quite complex in its simplicity. It all works together to create a hit that’s sure to get you on the dance floor.

If the over half a million streams of the single are any indication, fans of the Brixton native already approved of the track as-is. Enter singer/songwriter/producer/multi-instrumentalist, Chris McClenney to add his magic touch to the record, and the senses of a whole new set of music lovers are aroused. The Soulection artist slows things down a bit, but turns the sexy all the way up on his remix. He digs even deeper to kick up the R&B vibe, and while the track still packs plenty of bounce, it evokes more of a smooth and sensual two-step, as opposed to the emphatic head-nod of the original. The Baltimore native says, "I heard the original, and was immediately excited to put my bounce on it. There was this emotional energy in the original and I wanted to flip it a little to make it super groovy and feel-good.” We are very familiar with his knack for remixing any tune into a laid-back gem, as we are STILL jamming to his rework SPZRKT & Sango’s "How Do You Love Me." His exceptional production skills were solidified and showcased on his debut EP Portrait in Two, released earlier this year.
