The group Parlor Social is described as if "Cab Calloway, OutKast and Lauryn Hill would have a love-child." With such an introduction, our curiosity was most definitely piqued. The group, who is new to us but not new to the scene, is comprised of singer/songwriter Dessy Di Lauro and keyboardist/musical director/producer/composer Ric'key Pageot. They are said to have one of the best live shows in their home base of Los Angeles, and they seem to have hit a sweet spot with their "speakeasy soul" as heard on their new single "That's Just The Way."

Just in time for the summer, Parlor Social bring us an upbeat groove to play during cookouts, road trips or other fun functions with "That's Just The Way." Over a sound bed of electric guitar, bass, drums and organ, Dessy soulfully sings, "That's just the way the story goes / That's just the way, nobody knows," on the catchy chorus with serious earworm potential. According to her, “The message behind this summer feel-good song is, if you keep the faith, you can overcome whatever hardships you're going through."

Later in the song, Dessy sings the lyric, "I found my soul in my own music." She expounds on her approach to songwriting sharing that, "Writing music has always been my emotional outlet almost my entire life, and I hope that this song will help shed some light for others.” With such an inspirational theme and deeper meaning, "That's Just The Way" will have appeal well beyond its groovy sound.
