October may have just started, but that's not stopping people from making their holiday plans, department stores from decking the halls with seasonal displays and artists from releasing new Christmas albums. Yes, all before Halloween. Although we're not in the holiday spirit just yet, on the short list of yuletide albums that we're looking forward to this year is Fantasia's Christmas After Midnight.
The powerhouse soul singer will release her sixth overall album and first since parting ways with RCA Records when Christmas After Midnight drops on Friday, October 6th. Produced by frequent collaborator Ron Fair, this holiday project is near and dear to Fantasia's heart. According to the singer, "This album pays homage to my grandmother and is a gift from me to all of those who remember their grandparents or parents putting up Christmas trees and being a blessing into people’s lives."
Christmas After Midnight will feature 12 tracks and include standards such as “This Christmas,” “Silent Night,” “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,” “Santa Claus Go Straight To The Ghetto” and “Baby, It’s Cold Outside,” a duet with CeeLo Green. Fantasia also shares that the collection, "pays homage to the great singers like Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra and Ray Charles who stood strong in what they believed in – the music."
In addition to releasing Christmas After Midnight, Fantasia has plans to take the album directly to the people on the Christmas After Midnight Tour. Tasia will be bringing holiday cheer and soul to the masses starting on November 19th in Dallas. Fans in Houston, Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore, Phildelphia and a few more cities will get to enjoy this tour well into December. If you don't see your city listed below, don't despair because additional tour dates will be announced in the coming weeks.
