About Us / F.A.Q.
SoulBounce was created with the intent to expand the conversation of urban music beyond the over-exposed and the obvious. While we still mention some popular mainstream artists, our chief focus is on the alternatives. You'll get a mix here. Artists that run the gamut from Vikter Duplaix and Eric Roberson to Mary J. Blige and Kanye West, plus everything in between, beyond, and to the side!
Also, SoulBounce is dedicated to aggressively providing its audience with frequent daily updates, media and entertaining op-eds. Simply put, we are the only music blog with a recipe of constant updates, engaging and sometimes edgy writing, soulful content and a cutting edge design, for grown folks!
When did SoulBounce launch?
The beta version launched in August of 2007.
Hey, I'm getting an error when I try to play some your archived audio files. What gives?
Music files are stored for a limited time. Only the most recent additions will work.
Can you email me that mp3 that you posted on--
No.
I left a comment here and now it's gone. Why did you delete it?
Because we frown on being told
"shut the f*** up with your gay a**, this s*** is crack you bi**** a** n****."
It's okay to disagree, but be respectful. Additionally, it's important to know when it is appropriate to leave a comment versus sending an email. We already know that your intentions are not to inform and engage if you leave a comment cursing us out or being a truculent smarty-pants.
Hey, you said my favorite neo-soul singer's weave was busted! I thought you guys supported her!
Look, no one is above reproach. We're able to separate faults from merits and acknowledge them equally. We apologize if you thought this was a fansite.
How come you guys never talk about ________ ?
We have a tips line for suggestions. If the music or artist fits within our intended demographic, we'll make it happen! Email us at soulbounceonline@gmail.com!
Speaking of this "intended demographic", describe these mythical creatures to us.
The SoulBounce Audience is primarily over the the age of 25. While they might attend a major concert here and there, they are more likely to hit up small, intimate venues to catch Bilal, Eric Roberson, Little Brother, etc. They aren't afraid to hit the corner carryout for a 3-piece and fries, but still know how to order a martini like a seasoned social alcoholic. The SoulBounce Audience knows what a vinyl record is and might even own a couple. They know how to party without hitting someone over the head with a bottle and are tired of using "crunk" as an adjective. Simply put, the SoulBounce audience is made up of eclectic, progressive, intelligent, urbane, mature, and creative music lovers.
What are "Bouncers" and how do I become one?
Bouncers are the silent partners of SB. They support and inform us on and offline. They are born, not trained.
I think you guys might be elitists.
You're probably right. Thanks for noticing!
I've noticed you're using a lot of exclamation points.
Perceptive!
How can my site be added to your blogroll?
Sites with a "soulful" or urban alternative focus get a preference, naturally. Other urban and music blogs are considered if they are exceedingly well-written, original, entertaining or useful. We will not add you simply because you add us.
Feel free to add more questions in the comments and we'll update accordingly.
Commenting FYI
We've deluded ourselves into thinking we're better, harder, faster and stronger than your average, run-of-the-mill, garden variety Black entertainment blog, strictly by virtue of our approach to... well, everything. So, we like to do things a little differently, and we ask that you do too when crossing the threshold. Since you are a guest here and we'd love to have you back, here's a shortlist of things to keep in mind when contributing to the discourse on SoulBounce.com.- Using profanity may throw your comment into moderation and it will sit there until someone approves it. This is because a good amount spam employs unseemly language and we'd rather be safe than sorry.
- Same for URLs (linked and un-linked), in some cases.
- No personal attacks on other commenters. Keep it classy!
- Please don't leave condescending statements towards the editors of this site. If you have a beef with the editors or our choice of content, shoot us an email. That way we know you aren't just doing it for attention.
- If you absolutely must insult an artist, be funny and clever. We like that.
- Disagree respectfully and criticize constructively.
- Racist, sexist, homophobic and any other ignorance of that nature are a major no-no!
- In general, we like our feedback to reflect an intelligent, mature, and savvy readership. StIcKy cApS, horrendous grammar/spelling, needlessly emotional verbiage and anything that makes you look 12 is a bad look. For us.
- MP3's are archived for a limited time. Please don't ask for them or report "broken links."

Who did the song they took the sample from for Junior M.A.F.I.A.s "Get Money"? I heard the original song in a bar once. The keys amd the woman singing are beautiful and the bass line changes are hot.
name dis beat | June 25, 2009 2:19 AM | PermalinkWhat's up, people?
I have been trying to find..but so far with no avail...a track that I heard on Anthony David's MySpace about a year ago. Aside from the track 'Words' with India Arie, this was another duet with another female vocalist. I think that the track was titled 'Waiting For The Spring'...something like that. I am all 'Googled' out...so, if anyone knows about the track I am referring to, please hit me up at jedi_mental@yahoo.com. Thanks.

Stanley | February 20, 2009 9:47 PM | PermalinkWow. I just looked you guys up after reading your write-up on Jessica Tonder because we both happen to be listed on her website, and I am impressed. Clearly, you have great taste in music (so we at least have that in common). I write for a music blog that covers a lot of urban alternative/altpop music. Stop by, you may hear something you like. Keep up the great work.

Harold C. Hunter Jr | October 28, 2008 10:18 PM | Permalinkthe reason I'm attempting to contact the site is because I recently heard of a contest to become the opening act for Eric Benet in Baton Rouge, La for the Oct 17th show. I literally know a young lady who will blow up the stage. She's has the club scene locked. You should check her out in New Orleans performing on: Fri, Sat, and Sun. Her name is ATONIA... She's at Seals, or Kermits off Bernard Ave. Don't miss her.

I sent you a e-mail but it went out with an error message, so feel free to delete this comment after you read it :)
Well, I wrote this just to let you know that I change the virtual location of my blog. You soulful people got it on your blogroll, so I thought you might be interested in a little update. The old blog, http://soulpower.wordpress.com is still online but kinda slow. Probably it will stop. I created a new one last week, http://almahumana.wordpress.com and it will run quite like the old one fashion way. The Portuguese way. The old blog was like the only soulful blog around here, but now there is another one, http://www.soulife.com.pt/blogger/blog.html (not mine) and someday this might come with a normal site http://www.soulife.com.pt (not mine too, but I thought you might be interested).
Thank you people, and sorry if my English was no good.
Leandro Silva, a SoulBounce daily reader :)
