Mobb Deep's Prodigy Has Discovered A Rare, Potent Form Of Heroin

mobb-deep-193694.jpgMobb Deep was one of my favorite East Coast Hip Hop acts during my coming of age; I put The Infamous right up there with Ready to Die and Only Built 4 Cuban Linx. So naturally when they first linked with G-Unit I wanted to curl into the fetal position and re-evaluate. It eventually occurred to me that my musical tastes had matured to the point where such a union was no longer a life-altering turn of events for me.

Kudos to Prodigy for putting himself on my radar again.

He recently went on a passionate, CAPITALIZED rant on his HNIC2 blog (Hint: It's part of Ning, so if you have a SoulCommune ID, you already have access), in which he goes off on a number of rap acts that are considered more talented, relevant, and sane than he is. Since we're nothing if not fair and balanced here at SoulBounce, I'll just attribute the entire thing to a narcotic-induced detachment from reality. A sampling of P's hilarity with my commentary after the bounce:

"WE [he and 50 Cent] ARE THE VOICE OF THE HOOD AND THE VOICE OF THE FUTURE OF THIS PLANET."

--The "hood" and the future by definition are mutually exclusive. I'm willing to submit that the hood is what it is because there's no progression. Whatever the hood is doing now is exactly what it was doing 20 years ago, only with different slang. But of course you'd have to set foot outside of it to have such a perspective.

"YO RAP MUSIC IS SO F*CKING SACRED ANY BODY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO RAP. JUST USING RAP LIKE IT's SOME TYPE OF WH*RE THAT ANYBODY CAN F*CK WHEN THEY FEEL LIKE IT."

--If this was coming from someone that wasn't signed to G-Unit, I'd be inclined to agree. It's also worth pointing out that this sentiment followed a laundry list of rappers that Prodigy called "bullsh*t", which includes some fellow named "TALIB KWALIB."

"I READ A BLOG A WHILE BACK BY ONE OF THE MEMBERS OF THIS CORNY ASS GROUP CALLED "little brother" AND IN THE BLOG HE WAS EXPRESSING HIS OPINION AND FEELINGS ABOUT MOBB DEEP AND MYSELF IN PARTICULAR (PRODIGY) [thanks for the clarification - nOva] HE WROTE ABOUT HOW WE FELL OFF AND HOW UPSET HE WAS ABOUT IT. WELL LOOK HERE MEMBER FROM little brother YOU AND YA little GROUP NEVER FELL ON so YA NEVER EVEN GONNA EXPERIENCE FALLING OFF,,,,,YOU WILL NEVER BE AS RELEVANT, SELL AS MANY UNITS, OR EVEN BE ON THE SAME LEVEL AS PRODIGY OR MOBB DEEP SO DONT WASTE ANY MORE OF THE PEOPLE's TIME WITH YA A**HOLE OPINONS."

--Wait, is this spam?

"PRODIGY/50/G-UNIT/MOBB DEEP ARE SOME OF THE MOST POWERFULL NIGGAS THERE IS ON THE STREETS."

--Never underestimate the physical strength of a crackhead. I have stories...

"YO SOULJA BOY IS ORIGINAL, INNOVATIVE AND UNIQUE."

--This is my cadaver typing right now...

"50 BOUT TO BE THE FIRST RAP BILLIONARE ON TOP OF BEING ONE OF THE BEST SONG WRITERS EVER."

--They're dating. Totally makes sense now.

He also goes after Jay-Z, Nas and Joe Budden, but I'll leave that up for debate. Prodigy would follow up later with a list of rappers that he "F*CKS WIT", which oddly included Kanye West. Oh wait, Kanye West produced a song for them. Moving right along... Isn't this the same thing that happened to La Toya Jackson when she was with that sleazy white guy? When she went after her family with various nonsensical flights of fancy, possibly because he was plying her with the sweet, sweet crack cocaine and threatening her life? This must be what 50 Cent is doing to Prodigy.

P crazy ya'll!

(Now that I've joined HNIC2 to grab material for this post,
I'm getting friend requests from people named "Grimy0ne" and
"ThemAint20s". Help?)
