DJ K.O. & Talib Kweli Are Taking Hip Hop Higher With 'Someday'

djko-someday.jpgMany of you will disagree with me regarding Common's new track, but I expect so much more from hip hop artists these days. Especially the old school lyricists who know the ultimate satisfaction that bringing the heat to a verse can bring. Many of us who remember 1988 as the single greatest year for creativity within hip hop are still waiting for that second coming. I am not going to sit here and say that any one artist or song these days will be able to embody this feeling that we secretly yearn for, but sometimes a song comes along that gives you that shiver down your spine that things are going to be alright. DJ K.O.'s track "Someday" featuring Talib Kweli, Torae and John Robinson with Tiffany Paige on the hook is, in my opinion, an outstanding track. And it makes a great use of a Donny Hathaway sample from "Someday We'll All Be Free." From DJ K.O.'s forthcoming Picture This album featuring more hip hop heavyweights such as Black Milk, 9th Wonder and Phonte, this will certainly be something worth checking out when it drops. In the meantime, enjoy this gem. [H/T: 2DB]
