In conjunction with the upcoming 45th anniversary of Martin Luther
King, Jr.'s "I Have A Dream" speech, the Washington D.C. Martin Luther
King, Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation and Clear Channel radio
have enlisted participants for a radio-based fundraising initiative.
The Clear Channel "Build The Dream" Radiothon will be held next
Thursday, August 28th will feature reflections on Dr. King's
ideologies, influence and the importance of having a national memorial
dedicated to him by a growing list of entertainers and public figures,
including Musiq Soulchild, Aretha Franklin and Stephanie Mills.
Listeners will be encouraged to visit the radiothon's website or to
call and make a donation to the foundation. The memorial was originally
slated to open in 2009 but is currently about $30 million away from the
$120 million needed for completion.
A list of "Build The Dream" participating cities and stations is available after the bounce, but you can visit the website for more information on donating and the project itself.
