On last night's telecast of Fashion Rocks we were finally got to see Beyoncé live as Etta James. Yes, we've gotten fleeting glimpses of Bey in all her short blonde wig and thick black eyebrowed glory on the set of Cadillac Records, but this was our first time seeing her in action. She dressed the part to pay tribute to James who was sitting in the front row waiting to see what Sasha was gonna bring to the stage. Between Charlize Theron's bumpy teleprompter-reading-is-fundamental introduction and Beyoncé speaking on Ms. James' "Felini-esque sexuality," there are some chuckles to be had at the beginning of the clip, but when she starts singing Etta's signature classic "At Last," it's a very serious matter. Beyoncé puts her flourishes on the track, but she does a damn good version of the song. Color me impressed.
