After a long while of being speculated about, the Aaliyah biopic is now actually being made. For real. The point made over at Pop Tracks about this having a lot to do with the success of Notorious so far is a good one. Could this film have been completed without that B.I.G. push? Who knows. What is apparent, though, is that director Bill Condon is very confident about the movie being successful. Indeed he thinks it will be embraced so fully by audiences that it will rival the J.Lo fame-launcher Selena. Having recently directed the Academy Award winning Dreamgirls, he may be just the person to helm the film and may draw larger audiences based on that alone. No real word on whether Keisha Chante is going to do well playing her, but no matter. The fact that this film is being made, and that it isn't omitting (too much at this point) her marriage to R.
