Soil & ‘Pimp’ Sessions Bring You A Funky ‘Fantastic Planet’

PLANETPIMP_Artist mainweb.jpgSince discovering my new favorite Japanese Jazz fusion band, Soil & "Pimp" Sessions, I have been steadily bumping their album to enhance just about any situation I happen to be in. Their first album to be made available in the States, Planet Pimp, was just released two days ago. Luckily, if you're still not familiar with this phenomenal group, their new single "Fantastic Planet" is out now. Be sure to cop the single or the album if you're inclined to this recommendation after checking "Fantastic Planet" below.

  1. Japanese jazz...FINALLY coming to the USA?! You all need to check out their earlier stuff. And check out the J.A.M. project "Just A Maestro" is a side project with Midorin, Josei and Akita Goldman.

  2. it's actually breathtaking. I love the classical, latin and swing references.

  3. Nice find. I've heard great salsa/latin jazz from Japan, but this is definitely funkier. Also, no joke: some the music for their animated tv shows is impressively, and unexpectedly, jazzy.
