Did He Rock It On ‘Late Night’? Mos Def!

We told you earlier this week that the new Mos Def album, The Ecstatic, was the business. Hopefully you've already gone out and copped it. If not, and you should somehow need a bit more convincing as to its hotness (shame on you!), the Mighty Mos has been appearing everywhere (even here) performing cuts from the disc. His latest guesting gig was last night on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, with The Roots riding shotgun on "Casa Bey." They ripped it! Clearly, this should be all the nudging you need. But wait, there's more. In case you missed it, check after the bounce for another Def appearance, this time on Late Night with David Letterman Monday with an electrifying rendition of "Quiet Dog." Yup, Mos Def is back and Hip Hop is alive and well.

  1. I saw both performances when they both aired, ya know, as a Mos stan and all. Anyway, the Ecstatic, which I've of course already copped(thanks Best Buy), is my favorite hip-hop release since Q-Tip's The Renaiisance. And that's saying a lot!

  2. I copped the album...........not as bad as his last two albums but THIS NEEDS TO BE SAID.........Mos has as much talent as ANY MC in the game but he cant for the life of him make a completely good album. For ever good song there are 3 bad songs. I gotta be straight up with ya'll cuz we family...I am done buying Mos Def CD's...........Mos needs to hook up with 9th Wonder or Nicolay REAL bad.

  3. Mos Def and the Roots put TUBA in HIP HOP? C'mon! This is HOT. The album is fresh and a continued progression from TruMagic and New Danger and Undeniable.
This album is different, fresh, creative and the rhyme delivery is classic. Period.

  4. Yo stoney u really high ain't you?
This album is actually the shit! Give it a few more listens.

  5. He just keeps pushing the boundaries and challenging what hip-hop is supposed to be and sound like. I love it and will DEF buy the album.

  6. What a performance
