How The Roots ‘Got Over’ On Jimmy Fallon

Last night The Roots debuted "How I Got Over," the title track from their next album, on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and
words cannot express how infreakingcredible their performance was. Just when you think that Hip Hop and music in general can't get any more sketchy and suspect, The Roots swoop in to save the day. With the addition of Dice Raw on vocals and a smoking horn section, the performance was part old school Soul revue, part revival and part James Brown reincarnation. Black Thought channels Brown's energy while spitting thought-provoking lyrics and punctuating his flow with "Can I get some help," which was more of an exclamation than a question. Press play and relive this instant classic below.

  1. I'm telling you they need to do a soul album!!! They could be the next incarnation of soul music! They are an ever increasing musical consciousness.

  2. The horn section was killing it!!
If that's what the title track sounds like, I'm even more excitd about the new album!

  3. Is the bass player getting his boogie on or what?

  4. That was dope. Makes me wonder if this is intended to be a makeover with funk and hip hop of the old spiritual.
