Raphael Saadiq’s Tribute Takes Us ‘Back’ In Time

Yet another video tribute to the King of Pop hit our inboxes today, this one from Raphael Saadiq, who is currently touring overseas in support of his recent album The Way I See It. While at the Blue Note in Tokoyo, Japan last Friday, Saadiq and his band opened their set by paying homage to Michael and the rest of the Jackson 5 with a cover of the classic "I Want You Back." The suits, the instrumentation, the dance moves...takes me back in time a little bit. MJ most likely would've been proud of Saadiq's nod. You know, I was just thinking, if we placed all of these unofficial video tributes into a montage and sent them to BET, maybe then they'd understand what a tribute show is supposed to look like. I'm just sayin'. Check the clip below.

  1. That was cool! And yes, Harlem, you're on point with sending BET some "not so subliminal" messages about how to pay tribute/homage to someone in the right way.
