After the launch of bogus website sade2009.com and Maxwell's recent proclamation that Sade's new material is "monolithic," it appeared that Sade would definitely be releasing a new album this year. Though all the information has been speculative about her first album since 2000 (Lover's Rock), Billboard confirms that she is actually in the studio recording with her band. While the end of this year may be ideal, there is no official release date as of yet. According to Billboard's source at Sony, her label, there is no hurry because
"You don't wait years for [an album] and then rush."
Excellent point. This does not mean that we won't be eagerly anticipating the fruits of her recording session and hoping they're released sooner than never, like so many of our favorite artists. [BB]
