Will Downing’s New Effort Is ‘Something Special’ For Summer

His voice has always been like a cool summer breeze, so it's more than appropriate that crooner Will Downing, labeled the "Prince of Sophisticated Soul," is back on the scene just in time for the soulstice with a new album entitled Classique, on the Peak Records imprint. The disc is packed with all of what you'd expect from Will, featuring everything from original tracks to reinterpretations of classic soul cuts. The debut single, the midtempo "Something Speical," hearkens back to the first days of the season, when a schoolboy crushes ruled. Downing's buttery baritone acts as a guide to what to say, smiling all the way through as he addresses the one he adores. It's songs like this that show why he's endured for more than two decades in the industry. The voice. The music. A summer groove. Classique hits stores next Tuesday, June 16th. 1. "Buttery smooth" is right! He looks and sounds like a wonderful teddy bear. I can picture my self cruising, top down, sunglasses, and the wind blowing through my hair.
