‘It All Started With…’ The Jackson 5ive Cartoon

Back in the 1970s, I lived for Saturday mornings. Yup, even as a toddler, I can remember running to the great big television set in the living room whenever I heard the intro to the Jackson 5ive cartoon. The half-hour episodes, complete with laugh track, showcased the music of Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael as kids, something that was unprecedented. Also figuring prominently in the show were Michael's pets, a snake named Rosie and two mice, named Ray and Charles. The official first episode, entitled "It All Started With...", aired on September 11, 1971, and chronicled how the group was discovered by both Diana Ross and Motown founder and president Berry Gordy. Sure, this may seem like revisionist history for some, but really, it doesn't matter how they were found. Thank goodness they were. The cartoon is below, with Part 2 after the bounce. Happy Friday!

  1. This was my favorite cartoon as a child. Gosh, I still remember those crazy dance moves the animators draw; did you know that Edmund Sylvers from the group the Sylvers did Marlon's voice?
