"Spend My Life With You" is one of the genre's great ballads that was one of the swan songs of the R&B boon during the '90s. No wonder this song went to the top of the R&B charts when it was released in 1999. The lyrics are overly saccharine and the instrumentals and vocals are equally as precious (and pure, as she sings). And it's wonderful. Eric Benét and Tamia are at their best, pulling every ounce of emotion out of every note but without breaking the melodramatic threshold. It's always about to burst. That tension coupled with the singers' voices, which are a lovely compliment to one another, make this as full and consistently satisfying love song as any.
