When Bad Videos Happen To Good People: ‘Free’ By Donell Jones

It's never easy reviewing something by an artist who you enjoy that just doesn't live up to their past work. That pretty much sums up my feelings on the new video for the song "Free" by Donell Jones from his recent release The Lost Files. The man who brought us BET and VH1 Soul staples such as "U Know What's Up" and "Where I Wanna Be" returns with a clip that is painful to watch.
I love Donell, but I don't love this video in any way, shape or form. With messages that "God is the answer" and images of the destruction in Haiti, he means well, but the execution is poor. Take my advice and listen to the song--which does sound good, by the way--but pass on the video.
