According To Dondria, ‘You’re The One’

Looks like this Dondria project that's been in the works for the past couple of years will finally be seeing the light of day some time this year when her debut album is released. Or at least we have the video for her "official" first single to tide us over until So So Def figures out what to do with this poor child. "You're The One" is a crisp black and white clip featuring Dondria (I refuse to refer to her as Phatfffat) with cameos from Jermaine Dupri, Bryan-Michael Cox and Johnta Austin. Honey dip Brandon Hines in the role of her boo is underutilized here, but
the fellow So So Def signee will get his shine in due time. Overall this is a cute video, but can we talk about the product placement. Although this is not as ridiculous with the product placements in say a Lady Gaga video, the second half of this vid was like a Nuvo commercial. Less Nuvo, more Brandon Hines. Or Johnta Austin. That's all I'm saying.

  1. I like the song more than I thought I would (this being a So So Def artist and all). I could've used less Nuvo and cut-aways to studio talk. Let the song & the visuals do the work. I hope there's more of this kind of material on her album.

  2. I think the product placement in videos is actually a good idea, and may indeed save the music video...with videos nowadays of less quality, these companies may foot the bill, for a 4 min commercial!
