Stay ‘Just The Way You Are,’ Kindred The Family Soul

If you thought that Aja and Fatin Dantzler of Kindred the Family Soul were just busy taking care of their brood of six, then you'd only be partially be right. They somehow found time to record a video for the song "Just the Way You Are" from their last release, The Arrival, in the midst of bottles, braiding hair and other parental duties. Shot in black and white around their homebase of Philly, we see Kindred singing while a homeless couple catches a break that gets them off the street, but their bond is later tested. Throughout the video, love quotes are displayed that tie in perfectly with the video's theme. Get caught up in the rapture below then hit the bounce for a peek at the first episode of Kindred's online reality series 6 Is It.

Oh how I love these two. They are as talented as they are down to earth. And are their children not the sweetest? Aja and Fatin are regularly uploading more episodes to their website and pages on YouTube and Vimeo, so be sure to keep up with the Dantzlers.

  2. SIx children!! Man I have a LOT of catching up to do... LOVED their first album and I don't know why I stopped checking... Beautiful family!

  3. Great video! I love them.

  4. ditto @ Rae. I was listening to that CD over the weekend thinking the same thing. I'm going to cop the last two CD's ASAP. They have kids to feed. As a young black married man their message is especially inspiring. On a side note is Kem touring????

  5. Great usage of Brooklyn as a backdrop.

  6. beautiful couple, beautiful music, I mean what more do you intelligent black folks want????? 🙂

  7. I absolutely adore this couple and the music they make together. They sing about what it means to be in a relationship. The love and sacrifice that take place in a family unit. I am looking forward their new CD.
