It's kind of odd that Lupe Fiasco's video for "I'm Beaming" is just dropping now, given that we've all been grooving to it in a club or a mixtape of some form since last year. This still doesn't negate the fact that I still really dig the whole concept of the song--nice beat with an equally matched flow. Plus, the video includes the kids in an updated way not seen since Nas' "I Know I Can." Kids these days want lasers and giant robotic things that shoot fire. Kind of like the stuff we were all digging in 1983. Which is a good segue to mention that Lupe's new album, Lasers, will be out this year. It seems the more things change, they really do just remain encapsulated in time in a slightly updated form. After seeing this video, I'm in a bit more of a beaming mood myself.
