My Janelle Monáe listening marathon keeps reminding me of those ever inventive and sorely missed boys from Outkast. Speaking of Outkast and their groundbreaking Aquemini album, I'd be hard-pressed to not choose "SpottieOttieDopaliscious" as one of my absolute favorite songs from that era. Thanks to the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble's treatment of this track, I reminisce a bit more on how varied mainstream used to be and hope that this year ushers in more experimentation.
