We’re Still Rollin With Kid ‘N Play

There's no need to lament about the "good old days" of hip hop with so many old school acts dusting off their mics and getting back in the game. Kid 'n Play are the latest to join the trend with this year being the 20th anniversary of their now-classic comedy House Party. They are back on the scene and hitting the road with a few of their friends for the 20th Anniversary House Party Concert Tour, which kicks off in Detroit this Friday with oldies but goodies Lisa Lisa, Full Force, Chubb Rock and other throwbacks joining them on the bill. And before you say that there's no possible way that Christopher "Kid" Reid and Christopher "Play" Martin still got it after not performing together in years, take a look at the awesome twosome who performed on last night's Lopez Tonight. Backed by DJ Wiz, these two put on a helluva performance and even treated viewers to their signature Kid 'n Play Kickstep. Peep the fellas in action below. Just don't get distracted by Kid's pointy mohawk.

  1. I saw them when they were on Mo'nique. Play has reeeeeaallly aged. But I do look forward to their performance.
    Peace, Love and Chocolate

  2. That was so beautiful I almost cried.
And Play got on stage still in professor mode? haha, the glasses kinda threw me for a second.

  3. play looked like he was on his way to afterwork bible study. how is he going on tour when he has to save up his energy for the kid-n-play kickstep? and why was the camera mostly on kid? AND why would the tour start in detroit? none of the performers are from detroit. this was possibly a good idea in theory but...

  4. @Asha- Yes, Play did look like a Deacon, but it was good to see him. Kid has kept his face out there on tv and stuff here and there, so it was nice to see them both together.

  5. I am sorta feelin the pointy frohawk! I mean, he looks funny already, might as well make it work for you. But.... this concert tour just seems wrong on so many levels....

  6. Two things..... 1) has it been 20 years since house party came out? damn, I am getting old:-) 2) I miss good hip hop minus talk of guns, hoes, pimps and hoes.........................I would actually spend my hard earn paper on this tour, especially if the Chubbster is on the bill.

  7. see even though i'm an '81 baby i loved this era. had me getting my grown woman dancing on. that's good music and real hip hop those were the days, now we get a glimpse here or there from a current artist.

  8. I love it! I would love to see this concert. I would take my kids to this one! They both look great.
