Esperanza Spalding Readies New Album, World Tour

The stunning beauty with the to-die-for afro otherwise known as Esperanza Spalding is prepping for the release of her sophomore album, Chamber Music Society, on August 17th. Since her 2006 debut, Junjo, and 2008's Esperanza, the bassist/singer/composer has been heralded for her fresh approach to jazz music. She brings this same freshness to Chamber Music Society, which will put a contemporary spin on the classical music form and make it more accessible by adding flourishes of jazz, folk and world music. Esperanza formed a chamber music trio with drummer Terri Lyn Carrington and pianist Leo Genovese on this album, and it's the first of two projects from her that will drop over the next year. Right now you can hear snippets of the new album on Concord Music Group's website and while you're waiting for it to be released you can make plans to see Esperanza on her world tour, which kicks off in September. Tour dates can be found after the bounce.
