We’ll Listen To This Faith Evans & Raekwon Track ‘Everyday’

Let's look past this album cover for just one second. It's not my favorite picture of Faith Evans. I would have loved to see her looking less like a Victorian-era magician but that's just me. Let's instead take this moment to rejoice over a song that not only uses Dave Grusin's "Either Way"--sampled for Notorious B.I.G.'s "Everyday Struggle"--with splendid results, but finally is a Faith track that is worthy of the raw beauty inherent within her voice. This version of "Everyday Struggle" from Faith's soon-to-be-released Something About Faith not only features live instrumentation but Raekwon whose rambling adlibs seem better suited here than on that Justin Bieber-Kanye bubblegum concoction. This track brings me back to the '90s heyday of hip hop and R&B collabos when Faith, Mona Lisa, Lauryn Hill, Mary J. Blige and so many others could peacefully coexist on a track with a grimy rhyming cohort. Speaking of MJB, what happened? No matter. Faith has once again restored my faith in her. Can't wait for the album to drop October 5th.

  1. I can do with out the 2 faded pictures her blended in.She is gorgeous nonetheless.I like this song better than the one with Snoop. Can't go wrong with the sample.

  2. Love it!! I don't really dig the last track before this one but this track makes me feel like yay this is Faith that I'm waiting for! 🙂

  3. Hail to 90's R&B and Hip Hop. I'm about to play some Wu-Tang. Soulbounce with the Mona Lisa shout out! This is really good.
True confession: As I have grown older I think Faith > Mary.

  4. I've gotta admit i am truly digging this track, and I hope the majority of the album flows this way as well. This is my 4th straight listen btw.

  5. Absolutely love this track!! Faith's voice is as smooth and beautiful as ever. She can sing the "abc's.." She's definitely what's missing in music right now.

  6. LOVE this song, could do without Raekwon's adlibs throughout the entire song, I find them distracting. And I'm a fan of his, just wish producer's would start making bridge's again and stop using rappers for every break in a song.
Outside of that, can't wait to cop her shit, really love this woman's voice.

  7. I love Faith's voice but I am not in love with this song. I too find Raekwon distracting on this track. I'm still looking forward to the album though. Hopefully the best is yet to come.

  8. I'm not the biggest fan of this song, but it gives me hope that the album might satisfy the Faith-shaped void in my life.
I must disagree with you on the album cover. The Victorian look is totally unexpected and works surprisingly well for her. TLD is right: it would work better without the additional images in the background, but it's still tasteful.
