Before I even begin to muse about this song's attributes, let me say this: Kanye West's "Runaway" gets on my nerves. I'm not saying I don't like Kanye because I do. On occasion. But the beginning's piano notes sound like The Shining and that creeps me out. Plus, when he performs the song, the whole MPC onstage thing is now getting old. And don't get me started on the ballerinas or the multiple gold chains like my mom used to wear in 1978. Just because King Ye says it's great doesn't mean I'm going to compliment the emperor's new clothes. Now onto Goapele who I also like. I do wish Milk & Honey was coming out soon, but there's nothing I can do about the fact that's it not here. I do think the idea of her singing the Prince-penned "Nothing Compares To You" performed famously by Sinead O'Connor is an interesting idea. In the end, however, it seems to fall flat. This is just my opinion after all. Make your own after you press play.
