Jamie Foxx Is 'Living Better Now' So We Deserve Better Songs

Jamie Foxx is busy. His new television drama Tommy's Little Girl, also featuring Selma Blair and Paul Sorvino just got picked up on NBC and he has a new album set to drop December 14th. Who'd have thought that In Living Color's breakout star would have done a fast move and become a triple threat--comedian, thespian, singer--right before our eyes? OK, pause. While I enjoy Jamie immensely as an actor and comic, his recent songs have not demonstrated the full talent of a man classically trained in music like he is. Truth be told, my personal favorite song of his was actually Kanye West's "Gold Digger" with Jamie mimicking Ray Charles' voice. After listening to the leak of his single "Living Better Now" from his upcoming album, I can understand why that is. The track still fails to highlight Jamie's musical talent. Featuring Rick Ross, "Living Better Now" is a lazy offering from the multi-talented Foxx who is drowned out by the heavy beats and Notorious B.I.G. sample, which is actually the highlight of the song. While it seems that Foxx is staying in this hip-pop lane he's been traveling in for a minute, one can only hope that his upcoming release has a few delights that mix it up a bit and offer something new. Unfortunately, this ain't it.
