For me, 2011 is all about some very exciting UK talents releasing their debut projects. Jamie Woon, Eska Mtungwazi, Baby Sol, and Szjeredene are all set to release material in next six months, and I'm holding out hope for goodies from Vula, Eric Lau, Rahel and Tawiah just to name just a few. One name that was on everyone's lips at the end of 2010 was James Blake, the producer/singer/songwriter/beatmaker who gave us the haunting cover of Feist's "Limit To Your Love" and who will release his self-titled debut on February 7th. "Limit To Your Love" was in constant rotation over the winter months and now a new album track has surfaced called "I Mind". I couldn't wait to press play on what I thought would be another piece of quality down-tempo, electro-soul, however what I got was...well I'm still not entirely sure. All the ingredients that made me love "Limit To Your Love" are there, but for some reason I can't decide whether I like this track or not. A little too sparse? Maybe. Slightly annoying, glitchy vocal loops? Possibly. I'm going to have to marinate on this one a little more. Judge for yourself after you listen below.
