Mint Condition Has Us 'Caught' Up

Twenty years after the release of their debut album, Meant to be Mint, Mint Condition is still one of the baddest bands in the land. I have loved these dudes from the minute I laid ears on "Pretty Brown Eyes," and my love has only grown Ashford & Simpson-style solid as a rock since that time. I happen to think that they don't get enough props, but there's no question how dope these cats--lead singer Stokley
Williams
, bassist Ricky Kinchen, guitarist Homer O'Dell, pianist Larry Waddell, and keyboardist/saxophonist Jeffrey Allen--are. But don't just take my fawning over them for it, take a listen to their new song "Caught My Eye" for proof. I love how Mint took something as mundane as someone catching your eye as you're standing in a line and turned it into a romantic jam. Fresh from setting if off on Kelly Price's single, "Not My Daddy," Stokley registers a more subtle vocal performance on this track, but wait until Mint performs this song live and get ready for them to let loose. Stay tuned for Mint Condition to hit the road in support of their upcoming album on Shanachie Entertainment when it drops in April. Until that time, just enjoy this on repeat.
