Nostalgia 77 Wants Us To 'Simmerdown'

Nostalgia 77 (aka Benedic Lamdin) is a man of many, many talents. When he isn't working on his own solo material or that of the Nostalgia 77 Octet he is busy remixing, producing, or engineering for artists such as Bonobo, Lizzy Parks, Kinny, and Stac. If the name doesn't ring a bell instantly, then I'm sure you'll be familiar with his cover of The White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army" with the super-talented Alice Russell. Known best as a jazz musician, but not afraid to incorporate elements of funk, soul, folk, and Afrobeat, he can count influential tastemaker Gilles Peterson amongst his many fans. His past solo works have been mainly instrumental, but for his upcoming album, The Sleepwalking Society, he has teamed up with little-known German vocalist Josa Peit to create an album that leans towards a more folk/blues sound than what we have heard before. The first single "Simmerdown" is a restrained, soulful ode to finding peace within, conveyed beautifully by Josa's ethereal vocals and Ben's jazzy backing. The single will be released February 28th, with the album to follow in March.
