Bounce-Worthy: Luca Dimoon

You never know when you're going to find good music or when good music is going to find you. In that regard, I was introduced to singer Luca Dimoon in the most random of ways. A January 1st bus ride up to NYC to see FELA! led me to meeting a young lady who was also on her way to Broadway to do the exact same thing. Call it kismet, but we kept bumping into each other over the course of that roundtrip, chatted throughout the day, and ended up exchanging information before parting ways back in DC. Weeks later she sent me an email to hip me to an artist who she was working with who I had to hear. She raved about how good he was (not to mention handsome), so I hastily downloaded his music and immediately got caught up in the rapture of Luca Dimoon. The talented singer/songwriter/composer/producer/multi-instrumentalist already has one album under his belt (2009's On Different Moods), and he is preparing to take his career to the next level with the release of his sophomore set, Telescope, later this year. Drenched in soul, funk, and jazz, Dimoon's falsetto dips and dives all over his songs, such as current single "People Make the World Go Round" a lovely electro soul cover of The Stylistics' classic or the sexy upbeat groover "Stroking & Striking" from the new album. Listen to those two cuts below, and then hit the bounce to see him perform a swoon-worthy version of D'Angelo's "How Does It Feel" live in Italy. You might find yourself wanting to take your clothes off and bathe in his voice. Or maybe that's just me? Whatever the case may be, Dimoon, who divides his time between his birthplace of Milan, London, and New York City, is destined to find himself in heavy rotation for a long time.
