Janelle Monáe Confirms New Album In The Works, Fandroids Cry Tears Of Joy

It doesn't seem like it's been over a year since Janelle Monáe blessed us with her magnum opus The ArchAndroid, but it has. In the time since, Monáe has been hitting stages across the world on a variety of tours. She opened for Erykah Badu's Out My Mind Just In Time tour and is currently on the road headlining the Hooligans in Wondaland tour with pop crooner Bruno Mars. She will also be one of the main performers at this year's AfroPunk Festival in Brooklyn.

But the burning question on many fans minds is when Janelle will be releasing new music. Thanks to the good folks over at MTV Hive, we have an answer...kind of. She confirmed that she has been working on a new album during her downtime from touring.

"This album will have very strong concepts and bigger ideas and the music will just go forward to another level," she told MTV Hive. "It will still be, I believe, relatable to the people. We have really big ideas, I must say, and we're just trying to make sure we execute them properly."

The singer wouldn't say, however, if the new material would be a continuation of the Cindi Mayweather storyline that she previously dealt with on Metropolis: Suite I (The Chase) or The ArchAndroid. She could confirm that whatever is produced "will be jamming."

Oh, and when can her awaiting fan base expect this new record?

"When the frog leaps on me and I rise and take a shower, and the rain drips down on my back, I pick it up and a message appears: 'It's time. It's time, child. Move forward,'" Janelle told Hive.

Umm...ok. Whenever that is, her listeners will be ready and waiting.
