Marques Toliver Shows 'Heart' & Soul In His New Video

Go right ahead and add Marques Toliver to my list of new musical obsessions for 2011. Even though I've only heard a four-track EP from him, he had me from the off with this awe-inspiring performance, and everything I've heard since has just reinforced the fact that this guy has major talent. Currently working on his full-length album and busy on the tour/festival circuit, Marques managed to find time to shoot a video for the lead single from his Butterflies Are Not Free EP, "Deep In My Heart." We already gave you the studio version and a live version, both of which were great, but now that it has had the video treatment I've fallen even deeper in love with the song. The video sees Marques and friends enjoying a rare British summer's day, dancing and frolicking in a secluded wooded area. Then it's on to an equally secluded house to enjoy what can only be described as an "alternative" house party, complete with palm readers. The muted colors, slight hippie theme, and Marques getting his dancing shoes on make this a real feel-good visual. This just goes to prove that a simple idea, well executed and in the right hands, can be more effective than over-produced budget-busters.
