Soulpersona & Princess Freesia Take Us To 'Babylon'

Full-on concept albums can be a little tricky to pull off. Generating enough quality material that conforms to a particular theme/idea is difficult, but, assuming the original concept is strong (see: Janelle Monáe), they can often turn out to be fantastic listening experiences. That is what UK producer Soulpersona (aka SoulP) is hoping will be the case when he releases The Lapdancer,  his follow to '09's eclectic Soulacoaster. The project is a collaboration with vocalist Princess Freesia (who also appeared on Soulacoaster) and is described as "a concept film soundtrack written and performed by Princess Freesia who also takes on the lead role as Avalon Lexus, a high class call girl and
erotic dancer from London," The concept is certainly intriguing, and gives plenty of scope for some very interesting songs/stories set to Soulpersona's trademark mix of rare groove, jazz funk, soul, and disco. The album is penciled in for a July release and while there is no single as yet, below you can take a listen to a promo track (that won't be on the album) entitled "Babylon" -- the name of the club where Avalon Lexus works.
