Phonte To Take It 'Home' On His Solo Album

We've heard him spit hot fire as one-half of Little Brother. We've heard him get his Stevie Vandross on as one-half of The Foreign Exchange. We've heard him spit bars or shine on vocals on tunes by the likes of The Roots, Mint Condition, Eric Roberson, Anthony David, DJ Spinna, Pharoahe Monch, Jazzanova, and a slew of other artists who recognize and respect his undeniable talent. And on September 27th the world will get to hear some New Tigallo, New Tigallo, New Tigallo from the man himself, Phonte Coleman, on his solo debut album, Charity Starts at Home. This week he revealed the album cover and tracklist, which already has tongues wagging and salivating. The cover showcases Tay's flair for the comedic as a cheesy real estate agent, yet still maintains the air of mystery that typically surrounds releases from The Foreign Exchange. The tracklist doesn't give any hints about guest artists or collaborations, and the song titles alone (i.e. "Everything is Falling Down," "Ball and Chain") will get the mind to racing trying to figure out what Mr. Coleman will be saying. Thank goodness the album's release date isn't that far off, but, when it comes to music that you know is going to be good, it truly can't come quick enough. Peep the tracklist after the bounce and keep it locked right here for the first single when it drops.
