Afro-Blue Was 'Killing' The Competition On 'The Sing-Off'

Last night on The Sing-Off, Afro-Blue showed up, showed out, and showed why they are the most unique contestants in this year's competition not to mention the ones to beat. After last week's shocker that found them on the brink of elimination, Afro-Blue came back with a vengeance to turn out the hip-hop themed night with a flawless and original take on The Fugees' "Killing Me Softly." Famously sung by Roberta Flack, Afro-Blue did the Howard University alumna proud with their a cappella twist that had elements of hip hop, soul, and jazz packaged up into the perfect blend. Their arrangement, beat-boxing, and harmonies all contributed to another amazing performance that led the audience and judges Sara Bareilles and Shawn Stockman to give them a standing ovation at the end. Judge Ben Folds may have remained seated and contributed an abysmal rap at the start of his critique, but he had very positive things to say this week. Needless to say, after this stunning showing, Afro-Blue sailed through to the next round and has given us a reason to keep watching. We'll also be tuned in next week to see last season's champions Committed come back for a special performance.
