'Celebrate' The Holiday Season With Jean Baylor

Well folks, that time of year is upon us and, love it or hate it, for the next six weeks there is no avoiding it. One aspect of this time of year does make things a little easier though, and that's the music. I freely admit that my personal collection of holiday music is pitiful, in fact it cannot even be called a collection. Try as I might every year to bolster it, I fail miserably, mainly due the fact that most of the traditional holiday songs don't really appeal to me, and that's what everybody seems to rehash year after year. Thankfully Jean Baylor, of Zhané fame, has decided to release a collection of original, non-traditional holiday-inspired songs which, judging from the single "Celebration," will fill the gap nicely. The bouncy mid-tempo is celebratory without being schmaltzy, fun without being corny, and wouldn't sound ridiculously out of place were you to blast it in mid-July. What's more, the project will also contain a duet with Eric Roberson "in the vein of Donny Hathaway and Roberta Flack." We're sold. The track is available for free via Jean's SoundCloud page below and the full project, Light Up The World, will drop over Thanksgiving.
