With a name like Mugpush I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this Bay Area-based collective but their Facebook page describes them as a collective of musicians and artists "who conspire to make beautiful art & music deeply rooted in the FuNk". A quick glance and the bands line-up, which features Billy Bones on bass and guitar, Gyrefunk on guitar, Teeko on keys, SoulBounce favorite Coultrain on male lead, and Mikki Boyd on female lead, convinced me that their single, "All U.S..." would be worth a listen, and so I pressed play. The track sees Coultrain's always effortless vocals riding over a heavy bassline and some extra-funky guitar work, culminating in an over two-minute instrumental jam that has me counting my pennies and hitting iTunes. The track is taken from their album, also entitled All U.S..., which you can purtchase from the link below.
