Saul Williams Lets You Test His 'Patience'

It's been a while since I've heard anything new from actor-poet-activist-rock star Saul Williams. While his musical aesthetic might not be what many consider "soul" music, he's put out some pretty impressive albums and songs over the years. His last effort, 2008's Trent Reznor-produced The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of Niggy Tardust, wasn't for everybody, but it stayed in heavy rotation at la casa de D-Money. That's why, when news broke of his upcoming Volcanic Sunlight, I was anxious to hear just what it sounded like. Lead single "Dance" showed that this go round Saul was going to be bringing a more glam rock edge. And this week, with the album set to arrive on U.S. shores on November 11th, Saul gave our friends over at Okayplayer the audio premiere of "Patience." This is possibly the most mainstream that we've ever heard Saul (but of course, that really doesn't say much as Saul has always been very left of center musically and lyrically). Drawing you in with a heavy hitting drum beat, Saul delivers introspective lyrics with plenty of rock star attitude. If rocking out a bit is your thing, then you should definitely take a listen to "Patience" below and then hit the bounce to check out his video for "Dance."
