Tamara Wellons Readies Her 'Songs For Janie'

Bounce-Worthy songstress Tamara Wellons is best known as a soulful house vocalist, even though her 2008 album, Life Is, spanned pretty much every genre that can fall under the broad umbrella of soul music. It's been a while since we heard anything from her, but as the video below explains there is a reason for Tamara's absence. For the last three years she has been busy writing material and exploring ideas for her upcoming album, Songs For Janie, a concept album inspired by the lead character in Zora Neale Hurston's 1937 novel, Their Eyes Were Watching God. If the snippets in the video are anything to go by, Songs For Janie will see Tamara shedding her house image and exploring more varied sounds, something we know she is more than capable of and look forward to hearing. Thankfully the wait is almost over as her official website lists the international, digital release of the album as November 15th.
