With over five decades in the industry, Bobby Womack has had his fair share of ups and downs, most recently battling -- and beating -- colon cancer. With so many of our legends passing before their time it's great to see a fighting spirit come out on top and prepare to release what could be one of the best releases of the year, and of their career. We have already heard a triad of heartfelt soul songs from the 10-track collection, and the release of "Deep River" makes it four-for-four for Bobby, and his production team Damon Albarn and Richard Russell. The pairing of their forward-thinking production style, and one of the most soulful voices to have graced this earth had me -- and I'm sure many of you- - a little nervous at first, but from what we have heard so far it definitely works, and it even convinced me to listen to a whole song featuring Lana Del Rey. "Deep River" is a heartfelt slice of "traditional" soul music, at least in its live, stripped-back form seen in the video below, but we don't have to wait too long to sample the studio version as The Bravest Man In The Universe will be released in a little under two weeks.
