Lalah Hathaway & Friends Are 'All In This Together'

Cast your minds back a little over 12 months, to a time when we were all waiting impatiently for Lalah Hathaway to release her highly anticipated follow-up to Self Portrait. At the time, details were still a little sketchy, but we were assured that a new album would be out later in the year, and, to tide us over, we were treated to the track "We Are All In This Together," taken from the Concord Music Group Black History Month 2011 Sampler. The track was a heartfelt affirmation that we are not alone but must stand together to effect change. Fast forward to this week and a remix of the track has emerged featuring Anthony Hamilton, Prince's NPG vocalist Shelby J, Take 6 and Crazy NED. The song itself remains pretty much unchanged, obviously except now the vocal duties are shared between those involved, but an effective video has been added to the mix. The visuals alternate between studio footage of the various performers, news footage of natural disasters, protests and war, and shots of men, women and children donning t-shirts emblazoned with the song's title. All in all it makes for a hard-hitting, yet uplifting message. What's more the remix can be downloaded for free 99 on SoundCloud.
