SBTRKT Makes This 'Gloss' Shine

Over the years, I've come to believe that a mask and or face paint on a performer serves as a litmus test for terrible music. I can most likely blame these prejudgments on Insane Clown Posse or Slipknot (I bet you never thought you'd see those names on SoulBounce!). Well if avoiding masked clowns with microphones is my rule, then British electronic artist SBTRKT is the exception. His new cut, "Gloss," is a prime example of why this man can pound away at his equipment while sporting a wide array of African masks and still be winning in my book. The thumping bass and synth chords on this recently released gem set an upbeat yet soothing mood reminiscent of several tracks on his self-titled debut. No scheduled release for any upcoming project is available, but that certainly doesn't make this track any less enjoyable. So press play, sit back and enjoy while we cross our fingers in anticipation for more material.
